ABOUT PUAN SRI BETTY SAW

Puan Sri Betty Saw, a well-known celebrity chef and food consultant, has authored more than 20 recipe books on various Malaysian culinary delights. She has appeared on various television cooking channels and her newspaper column From Betty Saw’s Kitchen inspired many to open cafes and restaurants using recipes from her books.

Many of her books are bestsellers in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei. Puan Sri Betty Saw continues with her endeavour to create new recipes for her strong following.

A philanthropist as well as volunteer and supporter of the Malaysian AIDS Foundation, Puan Sri Betty Saw has worked tirelessly to help underprivileged children and those living with HIV.

She is also very passionate about helping women living with HIV, especially single mothers who are widowed and have to bear the family burden. These women face a lot of challenges as they lack skills and working experience. In addition, they also face strong stigma and discrimination due to their HIV status, especially in the rural areas.

Puan Sri Betty Saw is committed in her quest to assist these women by raising funds to empower them in spiritual motivation, religious guidance, vocational skills, business assistance, medical treatment, children’s education and many more.

As such, she would like to dedicate her Everything Nasi Lemak Cookbook to the Malaysian AIDS Foundation to raise funds to support this initiative.

MALAYSIAN AIDS FOUNDATION

The Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) was formed in 1993 to raise and administer funds to support the activities and programmes of the Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) and its Partner Organisations. It was formally incorporated under the Trustees (Incorporation) Act 1952 on May 13, 2003, under the esteemed patronage of YABhg Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor. These programmes include financial assistance schemes for children and adolescents infected and/or affected by HIV and the medicine assistance scheme to support Malaysians living with HIV in accessing life-saving treatment; as well as community-based HIV & AIDS education, prevention, treatment, care and support programmes nationwide.

Through its activities and programmes, MAF was able to reach out to as many people living with HIV as possible with health services, care and compassion, to improve their quality of life and enable them to contribute positively back to society. MAF also distributes corporate donors’ funds to support projects that have been unable to secure government funding or projects located in parts of the country where resources are scarce.
