EVERYONE DESERVES THE RIGHT TREATMENT – PAL SCHEME

Mrs. Jue, 46 years old (as at 2018) is a widow from Johor. She has lost her husband who was a former drug addict, but did not realize that he had HIV. Mrs. Jue’s husband died in 2000 at Pusat Serenti in Johor.

Mrs. Jue has a 6-year-old son and is now studying in a nursery school. Mrs. Jue raises her small family with the income earned as a Supervisor with a salary of RM1000 per month at a factory located in Ulu Tiram, Johor.

It was informed that Mrs. Jue’s family are Felda Settlers in Kota Tinggi Johor and her family members do not know the status of Mrs Jue’s until today.

Mrs. Jue was confirmed HIV positive in 2001 after getting to know her late husband’s status. At that time, Mrs. Jue’s CD4 level was at 291. She had started treatment at Sultanah Aminah Hospital, Johor Bharu in 2004 but in 2008 to 2009, the hospital found that Mrs. Jue’s condition was worsening.

This worsening of her condition is due to the medication given during the treatment was not in accordance and did not suite with the health condition of Mrs. Jue, resulting in depression and always crying for the fate that struck her and her family. Mrs. Jue has extended her treatment to the second line as per her doctor’s advice.

Mrs. Jue received assistance from the PAL Scheme Program from 2014 and at that time she did not work because her health condition was unsatisfactory. Having changed the type of medication on the advice of the doctor, she is now active and healthy, and was promoted to the position of Supervisor at her place of work.

Mrs. Jue appreciates the help and support provided by the Malaysia AIDS Foundation which has transformed her life from a person who was always living with stress and depression, to a more positive outlook in life. She now looks forward to continue living healthily and support her young child.
