<\/a><\/p>\nARTAID18 charity art exhibition to raise funds for PLHIV<\/strong><\/h3>\nKUALA LUMPUR, 23 September 2017<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0ARTAID is an annual charity driven exhibition of paintings, photography and sculptures, to raise funds for the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) with its programme in treatment, care and support of women and children living with HIV. The initiative started in 2015. Last year\u2019s event, ARTAID17 saw 44 visual artists contributing exciting and varied musings on the theme \u2018Bebas\u2019. The event successfully raised around RM300,000 in artwork sales.<\/p>\nOrganised by The Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF), a non-governmental organisation that raises and administers funds to support the activities and programmes of the Malaysian AIDS Council and its partner organisations, ARTAID uses art to raise awareness and support social causes. This charity exhibition will be held at The White Box gallery at Publika to raise funds for people living with HIV (PLHIV).<\/p>\n

In Malaysia, more than 88,000 people are living with HIV, many of whom are with underprivileged backgrounds with limited access to basic health care and vulnerable to marginalisation due to the prevailing social stigma attached to HIV & AIDS. Through its activities and programmes, MAF hopes to reach out to as many people living with HIV as possible with health services, care and compassion, so as to improve their quality of life and enable them to contribute positively to society.<\/p>\n

Focussing on the subject of self, titled \u2018Diri\u2019, the theme was chosen in response to the idea of how the artists see themselves. Attendees can anticipate a showcase of works created for ARTAID18 by an exciting list of established, new and emerging local artists. Artistic interpretations and creative outcomes have always been mostly about self-expression, emotionally or physically. With \u2018Diri\u2019, the artists will dwell on the concept of being, portraiture in the form of introspection and how each defines or emulate their positions as an individual or a part of the society. Reflecting, looking in, looking out, in search of the bigger picture by returning the gaze on themselves.<\/p>\n
Funds raised from the exhibition will help people living with HIV\/AIDS.<\/p>\n

They are pleased that the campaign is growing and bringing people together to support MAF\u2019s efforts.
