{"id":8056,"date":"2016-11-01T08:56:35","date_gmt":"2016-11-01T08:56:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maf.org.my\/V2\/?p=8056"},"modified":"2016-11-01T09:00:56","modified_gmt":"2016-11-01T09:00:56","slug":"46-malaysian-artists-honour-women-living-with-hiv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maf.org.my\/V2\/46-malaysian-artists-honour-women-living-with-hiv\/","title":{"rendered":"46 Malaysian Artists Honour Women Living with HIV"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><i><span lang=\"EN-US\">Celebrating \u2018love\u2019 at its core, the \u2018Love for Sale\u2019 themed ARTAID16 exhibition continues to raise awareness and funds for women\u2019s HIV health programmes under the Malaysian AIDS Foundation.<\/span><\/i><\/h3>\n<p><strong>KUALA LUMPUR, 1 November 2016<\/strong> \u2013 ARTAID16, the second edition of the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) ARTAID exhibition series, returned to showcase the works of 46 established and emerging Malaysian contemporary artists in aid of women living with HIV.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8058\" style=\"width: 1892px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/maf.org.my\/V2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_8230.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8058\" fetchpriority=\"high\" class=\"wp-image-8058 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/maf.org.my\/V2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_8230.jpg\" alt=\"img_8230\" width=\"1882\" height=\"1050\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-8058\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ARTAID16 contributing artists are joined by Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) Trustee Hisham Hussein (centre), MAF Executive Director Jasmin Jalil (four from left) and ARTAID16 curator Noor Mahnun Mohamed (four from right).<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe overwhelming success of last year\u2019s ARTAID15, which raised a total of RM 230,000 for our women\u2019s HIV treatment, care and support programmes, not only inspired us to continue this endeavour; it also encouraged us to double the scale and ambition of the exhibition,\u201d said Professor Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman, Chairman of the MAF.<\/p>\n<p>Under the theme <em>Love for Sale<\/em>, this year\u2019s collection sought to critically explore the subject matter of \u201clove\u201d \u2013 in all its universality, diversity and complexity \u2013 while bringing to attention the gender disparities and inequities that continue to negatively affect women living with HIV.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cARTAID16 is a reminder that, three decades into the AIDS epidemic, in spite of the remarkable progress in HIV science, people most deserving of lifesaving HIV treatment, care, support \u2013 and above all \u2013 our love and compassion continue to be unjustly pushed to the fringes of society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To date, over 12,000 cases of female HIV infections have been notified in Malaysia.
