Entertainment for the Gala will be provided by Dayang Nurfaizah, Malaysia’s undisputed Queen of R &B and a Red Ribbon Celebrity Supporter of the Malaysian AIDS Foundation. She is set to dazzle the audience with her soulful rendition of her many hit songs. Dayang Nurfaizah’s performance will be accompanied by a live musical ensemble.
PUBLICITY
THE RED RIBBON KOTA KINABALU GALA DINNER 2019is expected to register strong media interest as the event is positioned as one of the most sought-after Gala Dinners to be held in Sabah this year.
MAF is partnering with Malaysia Tatler, a high society, lifestyle magazine to draw the créme de la créme of corporate organisations and the elite social circle to support the cause and ensure the success of the event.MAF will develop a comprehensive media and publicity work plan to garner attention for the Gala and highlight the cause that it supports.
A press conference will be held leading up to the Gala. The PC will help to explain our fundraising target and introduce the various elements of the Gala such as entertainment, hospitality and VVIP guest lists. It will also provide us with the opportunity to acknowledge all major sponsors for their contribution to the Gala. To further promote the Gala, MAF will work closely with its media partners – both national and local agencies in Sabah.
How the Gala Proceeds will be Spent
Proceeds and funds raised from this Gala Dinner will be channelled toward the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of SHAPE to ensure that its benefits are felt by HIV patients living in Sabah. MAF would like to expand the SHAPE project as well as Treatment, Care and Support programmes to the entire state of Sabah.

MALAYSIAN AIDS FOUNDATION
The Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) was formed in 1993 to raise and administer funds to support the activities and programmes of Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) and its Partner Organisations. It was formally incorporated under the Trustees (Incorporation) Act 1952 on May 13, 2003. These programmes include financial assistance schemes for children and adolescents infected and/or affected by HIV and the medicine assistance scheme to support Malaysians living with HIV in accessing life-saving treatment; as well as community based HIV & AIDS education, prevention, treatment, care and support programmes nationwide.
Sabah AIDS Awareness Group Association (SAGA)
Sabah AIDS Awareness Group Association (SAGA) is a non-governmental organisation formed in 2008. Its founder is Dr. Zaiton Yahaya, a family medicine consultant currently working in Klinik Kesihatan Sandakan.
SAGA is committed to providing health services crucial for the care of HIV/AIDS key populations in Sabah. It aims to free society from the detrimental effects of HIV/AIDS by promoting awareness, prevention, and treatment of HIV regardless of ethnicity, faith, gender, and socioeconomic status.
Objectives of the Sabah AIDS Awareness Group Association:
- Offer support services in complementing existing health services provided by government hospitals
- Establish an HIV/AIDS Resource Centre
- Provide information and counselling to groups infected/affected by HIV
- Increase public awareness on HIV issues
SAGA Health Access Programme (SHAPE)
The SAGA Health Access Programme (SHAPE)
was introduced by SAGA to provide financial assistance to underprivileged patients from Sabah’s rural areas who have to travel great distances from their homes to seek medical support for HIV or any other critical ailments at government-run healthcare facilities in Sandakan. The programme awards cash incentive worth RM300 to qualified beneficiaries for every hospital appointment that they attend in Sandakan.
The incentive will help to cover the high cost of travelling and other logistic expenses related to the hospital trip. In addition to cash compensation, SAGA also facilitates peer empowerment workshops, hospital peer support programme and counselling programme for HIV patients.
Who will benefit from this programme?
Patients from the rural corners of North East region of Sabah where the principal point of care and treatment is the Klinik Kesihatan Sandakan and the Duchess of Kent Hospital, Sandakan. The project beneficiaries must be Malaysian citizens from low household income (earning less than RM2,000 / month).
