MALAYSIAN AIDS FOUNDATION
STANDING TOGETHER WITH PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV
13 NOVEMBER 2025
SUNWAY RESORT HOTEL, SUNWAY CITY, KUALA LUMPUR
We are truly honoured to welcome you to the 2025 Red Ribbon Gala, held this evening at the magnificent Sunway Resort Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Your presence here reflects a heartfelt commitment to compassion and social change, and we extend our sincere gratitude to each of you – our donors, partners, and supporters – for standing with us in this meaningful mission.
Since its beginning, the Red Ribbon Gala has stood as one of Malaysia’s most impactful charitable gatherings. Over the past seven years, thanks to supporters like you, we have raised RM13 million, directly funding life-saving HIV treatment and care programmes for underserved communities. These efforts have brought hope and restored dignity to People Living with HIV across the nation.
Tonight, as we come together in solidarity, we celebrate not only the milestones reached but the lives uplifted through your steadfast support. Your generosity extends beyond financial contribution – it embodies a shared vision of a future free from AIDS and a society where every individual is valued and empowered.
Together, we are creating lasting change. Thank you for being an essential part of this inspiring journey.
Message by Malaysian AIDS Foundation
By YBhg Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman, Chairman of Malaysian AIDS Foundation.
The Red Ribbon Gala 2025 reminds us that compassion and collaboration are the driving forces behind real change. Each partnership — from government and corporate allies to community champions — reflects a shared belief that every person deserves dignity, access, and hope.
On behalf of the Malaysian AIDS Foundation, I wish to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the Ministry of Health Malaysia, led by YB Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, for its steadfast partnership and continued support through the RM8 million DHSKP grant — a reflection of Malaysia’s strong commitment to a people-centred HIV response.
Our deepest gratitude also goes to the Sarawak State Government, under the visionary leadership of the Right Honourable Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Abang Haji Openg, whose inclusive approach and long-term investment continue to set an inspiring model of state-level partnership. We also honour Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Hajah Jamilah Anu, whose continued support has carried forward the legacy of compassion embodied in Teratak Kasih Tok Nan.
To our corporate partners — Sunway Group, Yayasan PETRONAS, Yayasan Sime Darby, PERKESO, and Karex Berhad led by Mr Goh Miah Kiat — thank you for translating corporate values into community impact. Your vision and generosity ensure that critical HIV prevention, care, and support services continue to reach those most in need.
We are equally grateful to our international allies — The Global Fund, UNAIDS, and the World Health Organization — for their technical guidance and unwavering commitment to global solidarity.
Special thanks also go to our event partners, Sunway Resort and Enfinity, for bringing tonight’s gala to life with creativity and dedication.
As we launch the Malaysian AIDS Foundation Impact Report 2025, we celebrate not only progress, but perseverance — a shared journey of compassion, evidence, and partnership. Together, let us continue to build a Malaysia where no one is left behind in the pursuit of health, equity, and hope.
Message by Karex
By Mr. Goh Miah Kiat, Chief Executive Officer,Karex Berhad
Trustee, Malaysian AIDS Foundation
It is an honour to share this moment with the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) family, partners, and friends united by a common mission — to build a future where no one is left behind, and every person can live with dignity, hope, and opportunity.
At Karex, our partnership with MAF reflects a shared belief that access to healthcare is a basic human right. We are proud to stand alongside the Ministry of Health and civil-society partners in ensuring that people living with HIV receive the care and respect they deserve.
Stigma remains one of the greatest barriers in the fight against HIV. Beyond medical advances, we must continue normalising open, stigma-free conversations about sexual health, prevention, and testing. No one should be denied access to treatment, care, or support because of prejudice or fear.
As a responsible corporate citizen, Karex strives to use our products and platforms to empower communities. In 2025, we contributed 700,000 condoms and 700,000 lubricants to Malaysia’s national HIV prevention efforts under the Ministry of Health’s Differentiated HIV Services for Key Populations (DHSKP) — supporting outreach teams who deliver essential services with compassion and courage.
This collaboration is a testament to what can be achieved when government, civil society, and the private sector work together with shared purpose. Our collective journey reminds us that real change comes not from grand gestures but from sustained partnership, empathy, and action.
Tonight’s Red Ribbon Gala is more than a celebration — it is a reaffirmation of our shared responsibility to uphold health, dignity, and equality for all. Let us continue this journey with compassion and solidarity, ensuring that Malaysia moves ever closer to ending AIDS as a public-health threat.
Together, we can create lasting change.
Message by Ministry of Health
By YB Datuk Seri Haji Dr. Dzulkefly bin Ahmad, Minster of Health of Malaysia.
The Red Ribbon Gala 2025 is a reflection of our shared determination to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. This aspiration, rooted in the National Strategic Plan to End AIDS, reminds us that the journey toward zero new infections, zero discrimination, and zero AIDS-related deaths must continue with renewed energy and compassion.
Malaysia’s HIV response has always been defined by partnership and innovation. Through close collaboration between the Ministry of Health, the Malaysian AIDS Foundation, civil society, corporate partners, and state governments, we have built one of the most inclusive and community-driven public health movements in the region.
The Differentiated HIV Services for Key Populations (DHSKP) programme — supported through the Ministry’s RM8 million grant — demonstrates this commitment in action. By empowering community-based organisations to deliver services tailored to local needs, we are ensuring that healthcare is not only accessible, but person-centred, stigma-free, and sustainable.
I would also like to acknowledge the vital contributions of partners at home and abroad — including the Global Fund, UNAIDS, and the World Health Organization — whose technical expertise and solidarity have strengthened our national response. Likewise, the unwavering support from the Sarawak State Government, led by the Right Honourable Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Abang Haji Openg, stands as a powerful example of state-led partnership. My appreciation also goes to the Sunway Group, Yayasan Sime Darby, Yayasan PETRONAS, and many other corporate collaborators who continue to integrate social responsibility into their business ethos.
As we gather tonight, let us recognise that every success in this journey — every life extended, every barrier broken — is the result of collaboration, empathy, and persistence. The Ministry of Health remains committed to advancing universal health coverage, empowering communities, and promoting policies that protect the most vulnerable among us.
Together, we can build a Malaysia where no one is left behind, and where health equity and human dignity are upheld as the cornerstones of our national progress.
The Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) was formed in 1993 and fully incorporated in 2003 under the Trustees Incorporation Act (1952) to carry out the following objectives and since then, MAF has continued to move forward with its various HIV/AIDS treatment, care, and support programmes in Malaysia.
These programmes include financial assistance schemes for children and adolescents infected with and/or affected by HIV and the medicine assistance scheme to support Malaysians living with HIV in accessing life-saving treatment as well as community-based HIV/AIDS education and prevention programmes nationwide.
Through its activities, MAF is able to reach out to as many people living with HIV as possible including women, single mothers and children with health services, care and compassion so as to improve the quality of their lives as well as help them cope with the pressure of discrimination and empower them to contribute positively back to society.
The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) is mainly responsible for providing healthcare services. However, the MAF is committed to supporting these efforts by running treatment, care, support, and prevention programs for vulnerable groups affected by HIV/AIDS.
Each year, the Government allocates critical support for public health programs, including awareness initiatives and basic treatment services. Despite this, significant gaps remain in areas such as second-line HIV treatments, shelter homes for homeless people living with HIV (PLHIV), and social support programs.
With added support from our corporate partners, MAF actively addresses these gaps by enhancing access to HIV treatment and care, particularly in low-income and rural communities where healthcare resources are limited.
Through its comprehensive treatment, care, support, and prevention programs, MAF contributes to improving the health outcomes and quality of life for numerous beneficiaries. These efforts also promote greater productivity and social inclusion, aligning with Malaysia’s broader public health objectives.
The Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) deepened its commitment to equitable health access by delivering inclusive, community-based HIV programmes focused on underserved populations across Malaysia.
The Malaysian AIDS Foundation adopts a holistic approach to addressing the structural, geographic, economic, and social challenges faced by people living with HIV (PLHIV). By working closely with healthcare providers and community organisations, MAF strengthens care coordination and expands outreach through mobile clinics and community centers.
To ease financial burdens, MAF offers treatment subsidies, livelihood support, and essential aid, while also combating stigma through awareness campaigns and peer-led initiatives, ensuring continuity of care and improved quality of life for PLHIV.
MAF is dedicated to reaching the most marginalised and addressing stigma as Malaysia strives to end AIDS by 2030.
The next phase of our work will center on integration, sustainability, and stronger public-private collaboration, ensuring that proven models in our programmes can expand their reach, deepen their impact, and be sustained through co-financed, community-led systems.
MAF will continue to lead with humility, innovate with purpose, and stand with the communities we serve, to ensure that access to care is universal, equitable, and rooted in dignity and hope.
To realize this vision, bold partnerships are essential. We invite funders, corporate partners, and policymakers to:
At its core, the Red Ribbon Gala is more than just a dazzling event – it is a meaningful philanthropic movement. As one of Malaysia’s premier networking platforms, it brings together corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, industry pioneers, and high-net-worth individuals, all united for a common cause.
The Red Ribbon Gala aims to deliver a memorable experience with fine dining, entertainment, and elegant ambiance, leaving a lasting impression on guests and donors.
In partnership with leading Malaysian brands, the event offers meaningful brand visibility both at the Gala and across MAF’s communication platforms.
This year’s Gala is expected to generate around RM2 million in PR value, supported by strong media partnerships including mainstream outlets, an exclusive lifestyle magazine, and a major TV station.
For the fourth consecutive year, the prestigious Red Ribbon Gala will be hosted at the iconic Sunway Resort Hotel, located in the vibrant Sunway City, Kuala Lumpur.
It is located in the heart of Sunway City Kuala Lumpur and is Asia’s leading fully integrated premier hospitality and entertainment destination. The extraordinary physical transformation of Sunway Resort as well as its unparalleled devotion towards achieving sustainability excellence will be highlighted in all external communication and collateral related to the Gala.
Some of the very best features of the new Sunway Resort will be turned into an integral component of the Gala experience, most notably, the special culinary presentation by the talented culinary team of Sunway Resort Hotel.
We are delighted to anticipate extensive media coverage and active social media engagement throughout the evening, driven by strategic outreach and the wholehearted participation of our partners and performers. This will not only significantly enhance the visibility of the Gala but also powerfully highlight the meaningful cause we support.
Building on the success of last year’s event, the estimated PR value of this year’s Red Ribbon Gala is projected to reach RM2–2.5 million.
Our Media & Communications team looks forward to working closely with our respected Top Sponsors to fully achieve their branding and corporate social responsibility (CSR) promotional objectives.
Let us come together to celebrate the spirit of generosity and draw greater attention to the vital fight against HIV/AIDS. Thank you for being an indispensable part of this impactful evening!
