AIDS SOLIDARITY FUND
The Malaysian AIDS Foundation together with Sabah AIDS Awareness Group Association (SAGA) giving out necessities for People Living with HIV who are affected by the COVID-19 outbreak in Sandakan, Sabah, with support from our sponsor, Nestlé Malaysia.
Society is bracing the impact of COVID-19. People Living with HIV, particularly those with weakened immune system are facing elevated risk of contracting the disease. Our HIV community – many who are from economically-deprived background and already suffering from stigma and discrimination – will bear the worst brunt from the economic fallout due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
The Malaysian AIDS Foundation is determined to continue our mission to help People Living with HIV in Malaysia. We will pull out all the stops to cushion the blow of COVID-19 on the HIV community and continue running our life-saving programmes during these troubled times, but we need your help.

HOW YOUR SUPPORT HELPS?
ALL proceed to the AIDS Solidarity Fund will support the continuity of the following programmes:
Monthly subsistence programme for children living with HIV or raised in households impacted by HIV. With PAF, each child receives RM 100 per month from MAF to purchase foodstuff and essential household items.

Monthly subsidy for HIV medication provided to HIV patients who are in need of advanced second-line treatment. The medicine can cost up to RM 1,800 per month and this is an enormous burden on low-income earners who will never be able to access their life-saving medicine.

Special financial assistance programme for Women Living with HIV facing economic hardship – the programme provides microcredit and business coaching services to enable these determined women to stand on their feet and earn their own income through small, home-based enterprises.

The SAGA Health Access Programme (SHAPE) was introduced by SAGA to provide financial assistance to underprivileged patients from Sabah's rural areas who have to travel great distances from their homes to seek medical support for critical ailments at government-run healthcare facilities in Sandakan.

Teratak Kasih Tok Nan
A halfway home that provides short-term boarding facility and place to recuperate for HIV patients from remote areas of Sarawak who receive treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching. Most of these patients have to endure very long journeys from their hometowns.

Rumah Sahabat
The only shelter home that offers round-the-clock palliative care services for AIDS patients who are in advanced stage of the disease. The shelter in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, provides professional nursing and rehabilitation services for the most vulnerable patients who are deprived of family support and have nowhere to turn to. .
Rumah CAKNA
Located in Ajil, Terengganu, the shelter provides refuge for HIV+ recovering drug users. It also runs social integration programme where residents learn agricultural and entrepreneurial skills such as vegetable farming and chili boh processing with facilities donated by MAF.
