ABOUT HOT & COLD RUN
The Hot & Cold Charity Run was organised to celebrate the heroic feats of two extraordinary young men who successfully conquered two of the world’s toughest foot races in opposing hot and cold climate extremes - the 9th 6633 Arctic Ultra and the Gobi March -- in their bid to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS.
Jeff and Jerry both share the same passion to end AIDS in Malaysia, particularly efforts to reduce new HIV infections among young people. It is for this reason that they came on board as Ambassadors of the Red Ribbon Youth Club, an advocacy project by MAF to promote HIV awareness, volunteerism, peer education and support among young Malaysians. THE RED RIBBON YOUTH CLUB was set up in early 2010 and its membership has since grown to more than 6,000 youths. Over 12 local and international universities/college took part in this programme and they all carried out HIV awareness campaigns and activities in their campus. These institutions include University Malaya, University Utara Malaysia, Taylor’s College, UniKL, University Sains Malaysia and many more.

ABOUT HOT & COLD CHARITY RUN 2017
The inaugural Hot & Cold Charity Run in 2017 was jointly organized by Malaysian AIDS Foundation and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya.
The run received overwhelming response, attracting more than 1,700 runners (exceeding our initial estimate of 1,500 runners) and along the way, raised more than RM 200,000 for Malaysian AIDS Foundation and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya.
There was also strong show of support by MAF Corporate Partners. In total, we received sponsorship from 17 companies and participation of more than 700 corporate team runners. Red Ribbon Celebrity Supporters such as Fahrin Ahmad, Hafiz Hamidun, Bob Yusof, Anantha and Najwa Latif also lent their support by making special appearances at the event, to the delight of the runners.
Despite of intense competition from other Race Organisers, we manage to get a very strong media coverage for the event. The Hot & Cold Run was featured in all mainstream media, including newspaper and TV station, which collectively generate more than RM 1.75 Million worth of PR values.
ABOUT HOT & COLD CHARITY RUN 2018
Due to the strong reception in 2017, we have decided to once again organize the Hot & Cold Charity Run for 2018. The run tentatively plans to be held on 16 September 2018 (Sunday) at University of Malaya Kuala Lumpur.
This charity run will provide the opportunity for everyone, including students, to be meaningfully involved in this charity project and contribute to MAF’s fundraising effort. It will be opened to 1,500 runners in 3 Categories -- 10 KM (Competitive), 5 km and 3 KM (Non Competitie run) -- all within the campus ground including its eponymous landmark Bukit Cinta.
Proceeds raised from the MAF Ultra Challenge 2018 and Hot & Cold Run will be channelled to support HIV education and prevention activities for young people under the MAF Red Ribbon Youth Club and the Faculty of Medicine Development Fund.

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Malaya
Through its 50 years of history, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Malaya has produced thousands of medical, pharmacy, biomedical and nursing graduates who have gone on to serve the nation both in public and private service. As the first medical school in the country, the Faculty has maintained a proud tradition of producing the next generation of excellent physicians and scientists including future leaders of academic medicine.
In recent years, the Faculty has been at the forefront of the postgraduate clinical training programme in a wide range of medical specialties leading to a Masters in Medicine degree. Additionally, it offers graduate programmes leading to an MSc or PhD in various other biomedical fields, including pharmacy, nursing and molecular medicine.
The co-existence of a dynamic faculty and student population at the Faculty of Medicine with access to fully equipped facilities at the Faculty and medical centre has given rise to the ability to conduct multiple research programmes that encompass the basic sciences, clinical and translational research. In line with the university’s vision to be an internationally-renowned institution of higher learning in research and innovation, members of the Faculty are embarking on numerous research programmes through internal and external grants most recently supported by a large High Impact Research Grant from the Ministry of Higher Education.
