Malaysian AIDS Foundation – Yayasan Sime DARBY The Red Ribbon Short Film Competition
KUALA LUMPUR, 30 April 2020 – The Red Ribbon Short Film Competition is back for the second year running.
Jointly organized by the Malaysian AIDS Foundation and sponsored by Yayasan Sime Darby, the competition sought to challenge young talented Malaysian filmmakers aged between 18 – 30 years old to explore, critically and creatively on HIV/AIDS, do thorough research about the topic under the themes of sexual transmission, HIV treatment and prevention and also stigma and discrimination.
The Red Ribbon Short Film Competition or also known as The Red Ribbon Shorties is a good creative and artistic platform for the youths to activate their interests in generating dialogues within the whole society about the key issues related to the epidemic of HIV/AIDS.
There will be two categories available for the competition which are secondary student and tertiary student or public. The submission of participants’ video can be submitted on 15th of May until 15th of August.
To ensure the credibility of the competition, the selection process will be presided by a panel of distinguished personalities representing the entertainment industry, media, civil society and People Living with HIV.
For winners on each category are entitled to get different prizes. For secondary student, the first prize will be RM2,000 cash with a trophy and certificate of excellence, second prize RM1,000 cash and certificate of excellence and third prize will be RM500 case with certificate of excellence.
Meanwhile, for tertiary student or public category, the first prize will be RM3,000 cash with a trophy and certificate of excellence, second prize is RM2,000 cash and certificate of excellence and third prize is RM1,000 cash and certificate of excellence.
MAF also bringing back the People’s Choice Award for this year where all video submissions from both categories will be analyzed and observed based on the highest likes and shares. First prize will be bringing home RM3,000 cash, trophy and certificate of excellence, second prize will have RM2,000 cash and certificate of excellence while third prize will have RM1,000 cash and certificate of excellence.
Participants that are interested may submit your submission online through social media platform which is YouTube Channel. They are required to have their own YouTube account and upload their final product to the platform and ensuring the video is ‘unlisted’.
